PWA Slalom World Cup Noumea

Pierre & Marion Mortefon 1st!

The 2019 Bureau Vallée Dream Cup proved to be an event of world class racing. With little room in the top, Matteo Iachino and Pierre Mortefon both successfully negotiated their way into the final of Elimination. For Matteo to snatch the title he would have needed to finish at least 3 places ahead of Pierre, while Pierre knew finishing within two places or better would guarantee him a first world title. Pierre kept his calm over the remainder of the final course and crossed the finish line ahead of Matteo to leave the result in no doubt and after so many years of being second or third in the world, he finally has his hands on the most coveted prize. Well deserved - what an absolute thriller of a last elimination! A dream came true - Pierre Mortefon is the PWA Slalom World Champion 2019!

Marion Mortefon did everything she possibly could to deny Cousin Questel the title by winning the final event of the year, but even that wasn’t enough in the end. However, she still be delighted with her performance this week which earns her her first victory on the world tour, while she also finishes the season as the vice-world champion, which is her best result to date!
